8 amazing days in Transilvania by Erasmus+

Hello everyone!

We have decided to give you a short report about our 8 days in Balan,Romania. We arrived 7/11/17, late in the evening to this amazing mining town, than we had our lavish dinner and went to bed. In the following days we got to know each other. There were participants from 7 different countries: Czech Republic, Estonia, Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and last but not least Hungary. The second evening we presented our culture as best we could. Our tasting table was very popular for the Túró Rudi exhibited. From this time forth we started to deal with our topic, which was environment and ecology. We had to do presentations and seminars about global warming and things that are connected to this huge problem. We also spent some time outside by hiking in the near forests but unfortunately, we didn't see any bears.:(

DTH 2017.

3-5. April 2017
DigitAll :)
We got acquainted with the world of information technology and with an IT specialist, who presented us "Big Data" and robots of the present and the future. His main goal was for us to get more info about the world of IT.
We watched a movie, whose title is Disconnected. It was very instructive. It showed the dangers of the internet, for example sexting, chatting with unknown people and phishing.
A lady gave us some more information about the menaces of the internet.
Last day, they rewarded the entries for the competition. That was the ending of the digital topic week.

We went to Cserhátszentiván...

We went to Cserhátszentiván with the class in the "Ne Tedd Védd Magad" project at april 15. Our camp was a beautiful garden called "Angyalkert which was made by a young friendly couple. After we took the woodhouses where we were going to sleep we had three performances with two psychologist and a teacher. They became our friends so after performances we had lots of fun with them. The second day was full of performances. We had performances lead by police captain, addictologist, and more police officers. We learned some usefull thing about police and their working. We could say that we have to care ourselfes. Later when the performances finished we had a trip in the forest near the camp. We visited the local viewpoint and we collected some wood to make a campfire at night. The third day we had an awesome experience. We traveled to Balassagyarmat with a "rabomobil" which used for bring the prisoners to another location. In this case we were the prisoners. To be perfectly honest I couldn't enjoy this because I want get off this car it was very frightening. We had the last performance in the prison of Balassagyarmat which was lectured by the prisoners. We could ask them questions and they answered very informative. Finally this weekend was a huge experience to us because we learned that we could be wrongdoers very simply if we doesn't pay attention. Thank you so much for the weekend.

Wochenende

Ms. Johnson

My report is about studenthostel weekend and one performance by our new english (speaking) teacher called Ms.Johnson. She is from New York, America. She is a pretty old woman, who is speaking great. We could understand her. She wanted to show America, including history, fameous places, not least sights in her performance. We could get to know lot's of interesting things about America: rivers, national parks, local animals, tourism. She spoke about history of America, first prime minister, and other important parts of american history. I think it was a really good performance from her because it was collected and interesting (it's true I'm interested in America). From now I have motivation to travel America for seeing these awesome natural treasures.

One "stay-in" weekend

The Friday night programme of the "stay-in" weekend was a report about India by the Romhány teacher and journalist Sztranyovszky Béla. He has been to this faraway, exotic country twice. He has been seeking reminders of Sándor Kőrösi Csoma's presence, who was a transylvanian explorer of the East. Mr. Sztranyovszky showed his fantastic adventures, and he also showed us pictures and small objects. To finish, he wrapped Fanni Litavszki up in a 5 meter long stretch of blue silk, and I put on a weird, loose kind of shirt. The first one is called a "sari", the indian man's shirt is a "kurta". I wish we could travel to India, too!

Mission Statement of the Talent Point:

As an excellent accredited regional Talent Point, Madách Imre Student Hostel has been engaged in talent identification and support as well as talent counselling in cooperation with educational institutions in Balassagyarmat, primarily with Balassi Bálint Secondary School participating in the Arany János Programme for Developing Talents (hereinafter “AJTP” as abbreviated in Hungarian) and other Talent Points in the region since 2014.
Brief summary of our strategy:
-  talent identification
-  talent support: development and enhancement
-  methods: individual development with help from specialist teachers and professionals, preparation of individual development plans, creation of portfolios, documentation of talent support activities – raising awareness of the process of learning to learn and the efforts to work in a proper way, mentoring, enrichment
-  talent development by means of differentiation
-  activities in preparation for competitions
-  speed-up in language learning
-  competency-based education (social, lifestyle and environmental competence; environmental protection, lifestyle, code of conduct)
-  career development competency: financial knowledge, career guidance; organisation of competitions and contests; coordination of activities outside the student hostel.

Expertise, activity and success in helping talented young people:
All eight members of our teaching staff are committed to supporting talents. The implementation of the Arany János Programme for Developing Talents widened and deepened the scope of responsibilities. 123 AJTP pupils of our student hostel are active participants in the programmes.
Activities: preparation for competitions, creative competitions, sports activities, foreign language learning, career guidance, educational trips, enriching programmes, preventive activities, talent counselling, competency-based education, impact assessment.
Our institution has participated in the “TÁMOP 3.1.4 Balassagyarmat Local Government Educational innovation to develop competency in educational institutions in Balassagyarmat” tender since the 2009/2010 academic year. The competency-based educational activities were implemented in AJTP classes with the following content: environmental protection – we applied for the ECO-SCHOOL title, which we will receive on 31 January 2016. This way we are joining an organisation with approximately 250 members; lifestyle, code of conduct, financial knowledge.

  Past experiences relating to cooperation:
Madách Imre Student Hostel maintains relationships with the following institutions:
- AJTP Programme Office as a national body
- partner schools and student hostels participating in AJTP
- University of Debrecen
- Institute of Education of Nógrád County
- Balassi Bálint Secondary School Balassagyarmat
- Rózsavölgyi Márk Elementary Art School
- Szent Imre Christian Elementary School, Secondary School and Vocational School
- Dózsa György Elementary School Balassagyarmat
- Kiss Árpád Elementary School Balassagyarmat
Our student hostel has a long-standing close relationship with primary schools in the county. To discover talented children, we have given presentations to pupils, teachers and parents whilst also providing them with information. During these presentations – if approved by their parents – we assess pupils’ talents and skills, and make recommendations as to which schools would be the best to choose. In relation to our cooperation with the afore-mentioned schools, we organised a career guidance camp for the second time in the last academic year. Good and deserving pupils from the county were invited to spend two nights at the dormitory’s camp.

  Future plans:
Our objective is to promote psychological and motivational improvement required for utilising talent by means of our cooperation with Talent Points. One instrument for this is sharing information on talent support practices primarily on the student hostel’s  website: http://www.madachkollegium.hu. Possible sources for funding: - funding from tenders, the student hostel’s foundation, local governments, churches (parishes).

Expansion of the European Talent Support Network:
Important factors: our student hostel even provides accommodation for our guests who check in to use the building as a venue for camps (e.g. music camps) and joint activities (e.g. academic competitions). One of its positive results is maintaining contact. Being a school town located at the border, Balassagyarmat has an advantage in keeping contact with Hungarian schools in Slovakia and organisations beyond the borders.
